Casting resins & encapsulants
Materials for the classical potting of components or assemblies suitable for manual or plant potting under atmospheric pressure, vacuum or pressure gelation. Depending on therequirements, potting materials with thermoset or elastomeric end properties on different chemical bases (polyurethanes, epoxy resins, silicones) and with different processing and curing properties are used.
Epoxy resin casting compounds result in end products with very good electrical and mechanical properties, particularly high temperature stability and excellent long-term behavior. They are suitable for potting electrical components such as transformers, capacitors and insulators as well as complete electrical or electronic assemblies. Epoxy resins with high partial discharge resistance are also suitable for medium and high voltage applications.
Polyurethane casting compounds are room-temperature-curing and consist of a resin component based on a polyol and the hardener isocyanate (MDI). Different resin formulations allow a wide range of properties for various requirements in electro casting. Polyurethane encapsulants are characterized by low exothermic properties and are therefore very suitable for large-volume encapsulation applications.
