Aerospace & Defense

The aerospace industry places the highest demands on technical products, materials and suppliers in many areas. In no other industry is there any greater pressure to minimise weight. Therefore, carbon fiber reinforced composite components play an important role. When bonding carbon composites with other lightweight materials such as aluminium or titanium, the adhesion to the different materials must be ensured and attention paid to specific material properties (e.g. different thermal expansion). In addition, there are the high fire requirements of aviation. Materials in the cabin must meet strict requirements with regard to their flammability, smoke gas density and fire gas toxicity (FST requirement according to FAR 25.853 or ABD 0031). The demand for low vehicle weight and high passive safety leads to a material mix that makes thermal joining processes increasingly difficult. Adhesives are playing an increasingly important role in body-in-white and final assembly. Special crash adhesives improve the crash behaviour compared to spot-welded structures. Attachment parts are joined together structurally or elastically and the vehicle is sealed at the same time.

Bus & Truck

The production of commercial vehicles is characterised by technically and economically demanding processes. The demand for low vehicle weight leads to a material mix that makes thermal joining processes increasingly difficult. GRP add-on parts are bonded to the vehicle structure and are playing an increasingly important role in body-in-white and final assembly. E-mobility

E-mobility applications demand high performance encapsulants, gap fillers and adhesives. Thermally conductive materials optimize the heat management and ensure higher performance and extended lifetime of electrical and electronic components. Rail

In rail vehicle construction, the scope for bonding ranges from large front modules through glazing to smaller interior components. This industry meets the highest safety standards and therefore places the highest demands on materials and processes. The proof of fire properties for materials and material composites is defined by the industry-specific standard EN 45545-2. Depending on the safety requirements, the use of materials is tied to an extended scope of qualification. We offer products that have extended certificates or are already qualified by OEMs and large railway operators.

Sports & Leisure

Wind Energy

The share of renewable energies in the total energy demand will continue to increase strongly in the coming years. Wind energy will play an increasingly important role here. This will result in new requirements and opportunities for the composite industry. For many years we have been supplying composite customers from the wind power industry, in particular rotor blade manufacturers, with materials for mould making and rotor blade production. Afcona Slip and levelling Agents

During the application of liquid coatings on surfaces a multitude of surface defects can occur. The cause for this is, among others, significantly differing surface tensions. If, for example, the surface tension of the coating is higher than that of the substrate, this manifests itself in poor wetting (high contact angle) and, with that poor adhesion and cratering. Also after the application and while the coating is drying, local surface tension differences can cause unfavorable leveling and the floating of pigments.

L&L Acoustic Sealants

L&L Bond® 2-component epoxy resin adhesives

L&L Core Splice Adhesives

LOCTITE® Acrylate adhesives

Light-curing adhesives are the product group with the most varied properties. When the adhesives are exposed to appropriate UV and/or visible light, stable, durable thermoset polymers are produced. The product properties range from hard and rigid to soft and flexible. Fluorescent-modified products allow in-line detection of adhesives.

LOCTITE® Cyanoacrylate adhesives

Loctite® instant adhesives are high performance cyanoacrylates designed for the most demanding applications. They offer excellent adhesion to many different materials and are perfect for bonding plastics such as ABS, PVC, polycarbonates, acrylics and thermosets as well as elastomers such as latex, TPU, TPE and PUR. By incorporating available LOCTITE® primers, bonding traditionally difficult materials such as PP, PE and other low surface energy rubbers and plastics is easily done.

LOCTITE® Epoxy resin adhesives

LOCTITE® epoxy adhesives offer high peel and shear strength on a wide range of metals and plastics. When cured, these crosslinked thermoset polymers exhibit excellent heat and chemical resistance, high cohesive strength and minimal shrinkage. The two-component LOCTITE® epoxy adhesives are packaged in double cartridges that can be processed like single-component adhesives using static mixers.

LOCTITE® Hybrid adhesives

LOCTITE® hybrid adhesives combine the advantages of instant adhesives with the benefits of structural adhesives such as epoxy resins. As a result, a very fast setting time with high final strengths and resistance to temperature and media can be achieved. A further advantage of the hybrid adhesives is the processing, as these products have been optimized and require minimal marking.

LOCTITE® UV alkoxy silicones

LOCTITE® silicone adhesives cure to soft, flexible, thermoset elastomers. UV light curing allows for rapid fixation, while moisture absorption allows for curing in shadow areas. Some unique advantages with these products include high temperature resistance, including some sterilization methods.

LOCTITE® UV cyanoacrylate adhesives

This adhesive technology combines the advantages of fast, on-demand curing (light-curing technology) with the properties of instant adhesives. These advantages are particularly useful for applications where subsequent curing in moisture is required and allows the adhesive to cure completely, even in shaded areas. Exposure to UV light, low intensity or visible light results in tack-free surfaces in less than five seconds.

Matrimid® Polyimides and bismaleimides

For the formulation of thermally highly stable, weather-resistant hardener systems for adhesives, composites or coating resin systems with low outgassing and excellent dimensional stability.

Multiaxial carbon fabrics

Very flat, non-crimp fabrics from 100gsm with 2 layers and up to 1600gsm with a maximum of 9 layers, can be produced in widths up to 2540mm (100 inches).

Pactan 1-component silane-modified polymer adhesives

1-component, stable material based on hybrid polymer, air humidity-curing. Scentless after cross-linking. Good ageing and weathering resistance, as well as chemical resistance.

PACTAN 1-component silicone adhesives and sealants

Room temperature crosslinking adhesives and sealants for the encapsulation of electronic assemblies, for the bonding of cooker components (FDA-approved), engine components with high temperature loads, car headlights and for showcase construction.

Pactan® 1-component silicones

Neutral-curing 1-component silicones with very good adhesion properties for potting and sealing electrical components.

PACTAN 2-component silicone adhesives and sealants

Due to the cross-linking by installation of released water from the B-component, large adhesive layer thicknesses and a high hardening speed can be achieved. Suitable for flexible glass-to-metal bonding and showcase construction, partly specially designed for the production of foam seals, e.g. for household appliances, electrical and electronic housings.

Pactan Silicone and hybrid sealants

Room temperature curing (RTV) 1- or 2-component adhesive and sealing compounds based on silicone and hybrid with a broad adhesion spectrum in electrics, electronics, household appliances, food contact, headlight bonding and many more.

Permabond® Anaerobic adhesives

1-component, solvent-free systems that harden in the absence of atmospheric oxygen and the presence of metal surfaces (ferrous and non-ferrous metals). The liquid anaerobic adhesive fills the gap between the contact surfaces and hardens to a solid acrylic.

Permabond® Cyanoacrylate adhesives / Cyanoacrylate-based superglue

Cyanoacrylate adhesives are 1-component adhesives which often harden in a few seconds due to a reaction with traces of moisture on the surface of the material to be bonded. They have been formulated to cover a wide range of adhesive properties.

Permabond® Polyolefin primer for pretreatment

For surface pretreatment of polyolefins (PP, PE etc.), PTFE and silicones. For bonding with CAs, which are difficult to bond without special pre-treatment due to the low surface energy.

Razeen® Diluents and modifiers

Range of reactive diluents and specially selected resins with moderate reduction of viscosity, adhesion to metallic surfaces, flexibility, resistance against chemicals, good crystallization resistance at low temperature.

Razeen® Liquid epoxy resins
