Lubricants are indispensable in our mechanized world, whether as lubricants and wear protection for engines, turbines and gearboxes, as hydraulic fluid or as coolant in metalworking fluids. Lubricants serve to preserve material and increase efficiency and safety. In addition to the selection of the base oil (mineral oil-based or synthetic), the product end properties are optimized for specific applications with a variety of additives such as defoamers, anti-wear additives, anti-aging agents, metal inhibitors, etc.
Additives for lubricants

Base oils – PAG
In addition to mineral oil distillates, synthetic base oils (carboxylic acid esters, polyalphaolefins (PAO) and polyalkylene glycols (PAGs) play an important role in the world of lubricants and hydraulic fluids. Synthetic base oils have, in contrast to mineral oils, a significantly better aging resistance and a higher viscosity index. PAGs also show high hydrolysis and thermal stability. Our portfolio of PAGs includes products for water-soluble and water-immiscible lubricants as well as coolants, hydraulic fluids, and a variety of other applications.
In metalworking and lubricant technology, metal surfaces must be protected from chemical changes (corrosion) or lubricants from catalytic processes. Depending on the type of metal, there are different chemicals that prevent corrosion or deactivate metallic surfaces, in particular non-ferrous metals.
