Epoxy resin adhesives (EP)

The most important group of reaction adhesives are epoxy resin adhesives. They harden with the addition of a hardener component without splitting off a low-molecular product and are addition-curing. Epoxy resin adhesives cover a wide range of processing and properties. The polymers are strongly cross-linked (duromers) and can achieve high strengths.

1-component epoxy resin adhesives

1-component epoxy resin adhesives are heat-curing. The hardener component is already mixed into the resin component, the reaction is blocked and is only started by the addition of increased temperature (usually 90°C-180°C). They are mostly used in the industrial sector, for example in the automotive industry or in aircraft construction.

2-component epoxy resin adhesives

2-component epoxy resin adhesives harden at room temperature or elevated temperature, depending on the type. Resin and hardener components are available separately. The reaction starts after mixing. The use of cartridges makes them suitable for both industrial and Do-It-Yourself applications.
