50 years’ Bodo Möller Chemie: Continuous growth with innovative solutions Adhesive expert celebrates company anniversary
In 2025, the Bodo Möller Chemie Group is looking back over five decades of successful company history as a family enterprise, solutions provider, partner to global company groups, and a market leader in adhesives. Since its founding in 1975, Bodo Möller Chemie has been marketing specialty chemicals by chemical companies such as Dow, BASF, DuPont, Henkel, and Huntsman. As the company looks to the future, its corporate strategy will also continue to focus on strong partnerships, expansion, and innovative solutions, including those for batteries, hydrogen, robotics, electric vehicles, and communications.
What started off as a small family firm in the 1970s has now become a substantial company yet still run by the family. Bodo Möller Chemie employs a workforce of around 400 with most of these being technicians, engineers, and chemists. To meet the market’s growing requirements, the company has continually expanded its customer service, logistics, and technical support infrastructure over the last 50 years. Beyond its headquarters in the German city of Offenbach, the expert in specialty chemicals has also established a global network of more than 40 locations, from which it advises and serves more than 60 countries worldwide. Its aim is to provide discerning customers from diverse industries – including the automotive, battery, hydrogen, communications, and robotics sectors – with both customized solutions and innovative products from industry leaders.
Core expertise adhesive technology
“We are pioneers in adhesives. Our core expertise lies in transforming chemical products into mechanical and electromagnetic design data. This enables design engineering departments to develop powerful, innovative, sustainable products,” affirms Frank Haug, CEO of the Bodo Möller Chemie Group. “We offer this expertise to our clients worldwide. It gives us a unique edge over other providers.” This technical consultancy and support service is provided by more than 250 engineers and chemists plus the company’s own global laboratory infrastructure. There are currently already five laboratories in operation in Europe, America, China, and the Middle East. Further locations are in the pipeline in India. Besides expanding its core technological expertise, the family enterprise is also continuing to advance cross-sector areas of interest: In line with its slogan Fit for Future 2030, the company is also concentrating on sustainability, digitalization, and future technologies alongside global expansion.
Focus on future technologies
The focus on future-oriented megatrends represents an integral part of the Bodo Möller Chemie Group’s corporate strategy. When it comes to sustainability, the company offers products such as bio-based epoxy resins for hydrogen pressure vessels and debonding-on-demand solutions for adhesive applications used to significantly reduce end product carbon footprints. Besides the target markets aerospace industry, electric transport, and storage batteries, priorities also include special solutions for robotics, autonomous driving, and communications technologies. Here, the company provides future innovations through aspects such as optimized heat management, special electrically conductive adhesives, and what is known as EMI shielding, which allows a wide variety of high-performance electronic components to be used in highly confined spaces. “The key to sustained organic growth lies in the early recognition of such megatrends and a well-coordinated, innovative product portfolio integrating complementary technologies from market-leading manufacturers,” states Haug, outlining the need for innovative industrial fields.
Global solutions provider
The company is also pushing ahead with its global expansion: “It’s our aim to provide our solutions and expertise worldwide. Using our extensive know-how and a strong international network, we assist clients around the world in overcoming technical challenges,” affirms Korinna Möller-Boxberger, Managing Director at the Bodo Möller Chemie Group. The company is underscoring its growing international commitment with expansion in Southeast Asia and new locations in Thailand, Japan, Vietnam, and South Korea and the opening of adhesive applications laboratories in China, America, India, and the Middle East. The portfolio was also expanded in the IMEA region to include Life Sciences as a new market segment, where the company is increasingly establishing a greater presence. It provides extensive technical support as a solution provider in this field through its laboratory for life sciences formulations set up there.
