Wind energy

The share of renewable energies in the total energy demand will continue to increase strongly in the coming years. Wind energy will play an increasingly important role here. This will result in new requirements and opportunities for the composite industry. For many years we have been supplying composite customers from the wind power industry, in particular rotor blade manufacturers, with materials for mould making and rotor blade production. Our epoxy resin systems are approved by Germanischer Lloyd (GL) and thus meet the strict requirements of the wind industry.

Adhesives & sealants for repair and maintenance of wind turbines

Wind turbines are often exposed to extreme conditions and strongly changing environmental influences. Regular maintenance and repairs are required on a recurring basis. Repairs have to be carried out quickly and effectively, this is what our adhesive systems have been designed for. Various packaging units including cartridges enable fast and safe use.

Adhesives for rotor blade bonding & the nacelle

Our epoxy resin adhesives offer advantages for a wide variety of industries, including rotor blade production. In addition to the structural strength of the adhesives and their adhesion spectrum, the resistance to ageing under continuous dynamic loads as well as weathering and temperature is one of the main characteristics for evaluating an adhesive system. Our adhesive systems, which have been tried and tested for decades and are constantly optimized, cover these requirements to an outstanding degree.

Composite resins for wind energy

Our high-quality and comprehensive portfolio of resin systems offers solutions for all application technologies in composite manufacturing in the wind power industry. The most important market requirements for the production of large rotors are low viscosity infusion resin systems with a long processing window for rapid infusion of even the largest components and a subsequent rapid Tg build-up at low curing temperatures.

Composite tooling for wind energy

For both offshore and onshore turbines, the trend is clearly towards ever larger rotor diameters. The resulting requirements for structural strength and operational safety are met on the one hand by smart engineering and on the other by the use of increasingly high-quality materials. The constantly growing volume of components must also be taken into account in mould making. Epoxy or polyurethane resin-based model paste systems have established themselves on the market. Ureol Tooling Boards were specially developed for model and mold making. Our portfolio includes epoxy resin and polyurethane tooling boards and adhesive systems tailored to them. These cover all common applications and temperature requirements up to 140 °C.
