ARALDITE® 2020-1 combines optical clarity with high-strength bonding for applications where transparency and reliability are essential. Its low-viscosity formulation and 160-minute working time enable precise assembly, encapsulation, and clear casting, while curing to a transparent, colourless finish. Ideal for bonding glass, plastics, and electronic components, it delivers durable performance with excellent water resistance. Featuring an updated formulation with no intentionally added BPA and not subject to CMR labeling, it supports evolving regulatory requirements and worker safety while maintaining the reliable performance users expect.

Pretreatment
Proper surface preparation is crucial for the strength and long-term durability of an adhesive bond.
Therefore, before bonding, all surfaces should be thoroughly cleaned using a suitable degreasing agent, such as methoxy propanol or acetone. Ensure that all traces of oil, grease, dust, and other contaminants are completely removed.
Do not use low-grade alcohol, gasoline (petrol), paint thinner, as these may leave residues that can reduce bond performance.
For maximum bond strength and durability, degreased surfaces should be mechanically abraded or chemically etched prior to bonding. After abrasion, it is recommended to degrease the surfaces a second time to remove any dust or debris before applying the adhesive.
Application
For optimum bond performance, a bond line thickness of 0.1–0.30 mm is generally recommended, as this typically provides the highest lap shear strength.
The adhesive can be applied manually or with automated dispensing equipment, depending on the application requirements.
After the adhesive has been applied, assemble the components immediately and hold them in a fixed position.
