Getting through the European Crisis with adhesives Record year 2012: German adhesive industry produces more than 14 times of the European gold reserves
The German adhesives industry is already able to look back at an successful year of 2012: Current forecasts of the Adhesives Industrial Association (IVK) foresee that the production quantity of adhesives and sealants will reach record levels of 1.4 million tons – that equals a value of 14 times the European Gold Reserves or about 139 Eiffel towers. Frank Haug, the CEO of the worldwide active adhesives and sealants expert Bodo Möller Chemie Group (www.bm-chemie.de) knows the reasons for this development: “Only very few sectors don´t need adhesives for their processes. Weather it´s automobiles, tablets or wind energy systems – many modern manufacturing methods and materials require special adhesives. Welding, screwing or riveting are no longer usual practical methods.”
According to IVK this trend will continue in 2013 with an increase of 3.5 percent. Particularly the continuing positive economical situation of the German real estate, packaging and consumer goods sector as well as the export sector in emerging markets promote the current record demand for German adhesives. With an extensive product portfolio including high-capacity adhesives like epoxy resin adhesives, polyurethane structural adhesives and methyl methacrylate adhesives as well as sealants and additives the Bodo Möller Chemie Group is already for more than 35 years an essential switching point between the producing and the processing industry. To be able to respond flexibly to all trends and challenges in numerous sectors, Frank Haug relies on a combination of individual consulting and reliable distribution: “The rapid progression of technological advancement in the last years has generated new requirements for adequate adhesives.
