After the earthquake which caused a tsunami on 11th March 2011, everything changed for the victims in Japan. Already much has been done, but it will take years until the infrastructure will be rebuilt and something like “normality” will come back to people´s life in Japan.

The Deutsche Philharmoniker have therefore agreed to send a sign of solidarity. With the benefit concert on Saturday, 24th September 2011 in the Alte Oper Frankfurt together with the Lions Club Main Kinzig INTERKONTINENTAL and the German-Asian Business Circle (DAW) the artists underline the close relationship between Germany and Japan. Under the patronage of the Prime Minister of the State Hesse Volker Bouffier there will be a performance of the 9th symphony of Ludwig van Beethoven. The Deutsche Philharmoniker and the Frankfurt Singakademie will perform under the direction of chief conductor Dr. Paulus Christmann.

Also Bodo Möller Chemie GmbH wants to support this good idea and supports the fund-raising campaign. The event serves a humanitarian purpose, the direct and immediate help. The proceeds are sent directly by the international Lions Club Organisation to the crisis-hit area.

The concert appeals to all people who want to help and to set an example. Especially the live broadcast on the big screen on the Opernplatz aims to achieve this objective. It furthermore gives an opportunity to collect donations.
