Fire protection rail vehicles

Fire protection in passenger rail transport is subject to the strict requirements of a European standard, DIN EN 45545-2. To support manufacturers of rail vehicles, we offer a range of fire retardant adhesives especially for rail vehicles. Our portfolio includes adhesives from well-known manufacturers such as Huntsman, DuPont and L&L Products.

In the case of an accident involving rail vehicles, whether in a tunnel or on the open track, the fire performance aspects of materials can be critical to human life and material damage. The design of a rail vehicle must be such that evacuation and safe rescue of passengers and personnel is always guaranteed in the case of fire.

Since modern rail vehicles have a large number of bondings, which in many cases also fulfil structural functions in the design, there are also risks and disadvantages. For example, reduced flammability and smoke development can be at the expense of other performance properties such as modulus or strength. We will be happy to assist you in finding the right adhesive for every application in the manufacture of rail vehicles.

In addition, our Adhesives Competence Center with its own test laboratory is certified to the highest safety class (A1/S1) according to DIN 6701-2 for bonding of rail vehicles and rail vehicle parts and DIN 2304-1 for the design and quality assurance of adhesive bonds.
