By joining Federal Minister of Economics and Energy Katherina Reiche on her official trade mission to China, Bodo Möller Chemie is reaffirming its commitment to expanding its international growth strategy. CEO Frank Haug traveled to Beijing and Guangzhou between May 26 and 29, 2026, to meet with leading figures from government and the business world to discuss shared opportunities in key future growth industries.
For Bodo Möller Chemie, China is one of the most important markets in Asia and plays a central role in the company’s long-term growth and innovation strategy. As China’s industrial policy programs and its five-year plan continue to shape the landscape, topics such as local value creation, resilient supply chains, technological sovereignty, and innovation-driven production structures are becoming increasingly more important. Bodo Möller Chemie has responded to this situation with a clear China for China and China for global approach: First of all, the company is scaling up local value creation, client proximity, and application engineering expertise on the ground, increasing its capacity even further to serve the Asian market directly from China. Secondly, it is networking local innovation and partner structures with the Group’s global value creation and service processes.
“The trade mission presented a great opportunity to consolidate our role as a local technology partner and discuss specific projects in strategic future growth sectors with industry and policymakers. To achieve this consolidation and growth, we’re making targeted investments in infrastructure, application development, and local research and development expertise in keeping with current developments in industrial policy and the five-year plan. We use trade missions such as this one to solidify existing partnerships and build up contacts,” states Frank Haug, CEO at the Bodo Möller Chemie Group.
With some 120 employees, eleven logistics locations, and two application engineering laboratories, Bodo Möller Chemie already boasts a strong local presence in China. The company has been providing advice and support for technological projects and innovation ventures to renowned clients such as Huawei-Seres for years. Bodo Möller Chemie also offers comprehensive solutions in key growth markets, including automotive construction, e-mobility, battery technologies, charging infrastructure, autonomous driving, smart cities, artificial intelligence, semiconductors, electronics, robotics, and life science. What’s more, future strategic sectors such as quantum technologies, new energy technologies, and highly automated industrial applications are taking on an increasingly important role. Stable value creation networks, local development capabilities, and reliable access to critical raw materials and intermediate products, such as rare earths and advanced materials, are truly instrumental, especially in industries driven by innovation.
AS9120 certification in China also attests to the company’s expertise in the aerospace sector. As an Airbus supplier, Bodo Möller Chemie guarantees high quality standards and reliable supply chains. As part of its continued expansion, the company plans to make further investments in infrastructure and application development to consolidate its position as a German company in the Chinese and global market for the long term.
With Chinese industrial enterprises pushing ahead with their Going Global 2.0 strategies and global value chains becoming more and more integrated in global value chains, Bodo Möller Chemie sees further great potential for technological cooperation and joint development.
“We want to exploit opportunities for technological cooperative partnerships while helping to shape resilient, sustainable value creation networks,” sums up Haug. “The mission served as a powerful catalyst for advancing our activities in China and expanding our international position in strategic future markets even further. In the face of dynamic technology and innovation markets, it is especially important to take a pragmatic approach, move forward step by step, and actively shape opportunities, a mindset that Huawei founder Ren Zhengfei embodied in his guiding principle: Thinking is useless. Don’t dwell on difficulties, just take action, and move forward step by step.
