Bodo Möller Chemie supports American startup Canoo with the innovative e-automobile Gasket seals in battery electric vehicles are the main application area

Effective immediately, the Bodo Möller Chemie Group, provider of specialty chemicals and complete solutions for the industry, cooperates with the engineering and mechanical engineering company CeraCon. The company develops and produces processing systems and materials for extremely efficient 1-component foam seals, used in, among other things, high-voltage batteries of electric vehicles. The Bodo Möller Chemie Group, as longstanding sales & distribution partner and know-how provider, has worldwide access to the automotive industry. “Thanks to the welcoming cooperation with CeraCon, we will now be able to support our customers not only with our professional expertise, but also with ideal products as well. Thanks to the global partnership, we intensify our presence in the growth market of electrical mobility,” says Andreas Moser, Marketing Director Formulated Systems Europe of Bodo Möller Chemie.

1-component foam seal technology and prefabrication for efficient assembly on the line

CeraCon was founded in the year 2000 as an engineering and mechanical engineering company that nowadays employs more than 200 people. The construction and manufacturing of standardized and customized installations for sealing systems is one of the most important divisions that includes, apart from plant engineering, also the manufacturing of one-component PUR foam sealing systems and the application of foamed seals as contract production. The CeraPur® 1-component PU system results in a mostly closed-cell and therefore highly efficient seal foam with fine uniform cell structure. Automobile industry suppliers and OEMs are the target market for the flexible sealing product. The advantage of the CeraCon 1-component polyurethane foam seals is above all the fact that the gasket of a high-voltage battery can be prefabricated with a seal foam and easily assembled in ongoing production, for example. With the seal manufactured in the automated Formed-in-Place Foam Gasket (FIPFG) dosing technology, the gasket is just as easily removed again for possible servicing. With the CeraCon polyurethane foam seals and other sealants, adhesives and gap fillers for high-voltage battery technology, the Bodo Möller Chemie Group offers an extensive product portfolio.

Bodo Möller Chemie leads in e-mobility applications

Similarly to the automotive sector, e-mobility generally imposes strict requirements to the efficiency of adhesives, casting compounds and gap fillers. As key components of a vehicle’s electric system, batteries place special demands on thermally conductive materials for optimized heat management and ensure a higher performance and longer service life of the electrical and electronic components. With its epoxy, polyurethane and silicone adhesives, casting compounds and gap fillers, Bodo Möller Chemie offers a wide spectrum of high-performance products for electrical control devices, engines, batteries, wire harnesses, connectors, inverters, converters, sensors and switches, and is a partner of numerous innovative vehicle manufacturers.
