Dr. Ulrich Hofmockel becomes Sales Director Coatings EMEA at Bodo Möller Chemie Branch insider supplements the team of the Offenbach specialty chemicals company

Dr. Ulrich Hofmockel took over the role of Sales Director Coatings EMEA at Bodo Möller Chemie Group on 1 January 2016. He will be responsible for expanding the coatings business in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. His main tasks include the expansion of distribution business with existing partners and the selective inclusion of new products and suppliers into the company’s portfolio. “Given his qualifications, Dr. Ulrich Hofmockel is an excellent fit for this job. In addition to his comprehensive knowledge of the sector, he brings with him a well-established network. The planned extension of our coatings range will mean that it becomes more balanced and even more attractive to our customers,” says Jürgen Rietschle, CEO, Bodo Möller Chemie GmbH. 

Coatings specialist
Dr. Hofmockel completed his studies at the Julius Maximilians University in Würzburg in 1987 and started his career selling biocides for the paint and coatings industry at Ciba-Geigy Group in Germany. In 1991 he moved to Ciba-Geigy’s head office in Basel/Switzerland, where he was responsible for marketing photoinitiators for use in the UV coatings and printing ink industry in Europe. Three years later he returned to the German site as Sales Director for additives for the coatings, printing inks and electronics industries. In 2001 he was appointed Head of the Coating Effects segment. Following BASF’s take-over of Ciba, Dr. Hofmockel moved to Krahn Chemie GmbH in Hamburg in 2010 as Head of the Speciality Chemicals Division, where he was responsible for the long-term positioning of the company’s Coatings & Construction and Technical Ceramics divisions.
